At 22.9 Ministries, our name and our mission come from Matthew 22:9–10.
Jesus tells His servants to go out to the highways and invite people to the feast. The servants went out and gathered everyone they found.
-
Our name comes from Matthew 22:9:
“Go therefore to the highways and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.”
This verse captures the heart of our ministry.
Jesus didn't tell His servants to wait for people to come to them. He told them to GO.
We believe we are called to go to the streets, go into communities, go to the hurting, and go to those who may feel forgotten or overlooked.
We go not only to meet physical needs, but to build relationships, pray, share the Gospel, and extend the invitation to know Jesus.
22.9 is more than a name. It is a calling to GO.
-
Matthew 22:9 tells the servants to go out and invite people to the feast, and verse 10 tells us they went out and gathered those they found.
To us, this is a picture of the heart of ministry.
Go where people are.
Meet them where they are.
Love them where they are.
Invite them to Jesus.
Gather them into community.Verse 10 also reminds us that the servants gathered “both bad and good.”
The invitation wasn't reserved for people who had everything together.
We believe the invitation of Jesus is for everyone.
It doesn't matter where someone has been, what mistakes they've made, what circumstances they are facing, or how broken they may feel.
There is an invitation to the table.

We serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness, living on the streets, or facing difficult circumstances and basic needs.
But we don't see people simply as “homeless,” “addicted,” “hurting,” or “in need.”
We see people.
People with names.
People with stories.
People with value.
People who are loved by God.Matthew 22:10 reminds us that the invitation was extended to everyone.
Our desire is to meet people right where they are and treat every person with dignity, compassion, and respect.
-
Matthew 22:9 says, “Go...to the highways.”
For us, that means going where people are.
We serve in communities where God opens doors and where we see a need. Our outreach includes street ministry in areas such as Harrisburg and other communities.
We don't want to simply stay within the walls of a church.
We want to GO.
As God opens doors, we desire to reach more people and more communities with practical help and the hope of Jesus.
-
The invitation in Matthew 22:9 is ultimately an invitation to the wedding feast.
For 22.9 Ministries, that reminds us that our greatest invitation is an invitation to Jesus.
We invite people to know that they are loved by God. We invite them to experience His grace, forgiveness, hope, and restoration.
Sometimes that invitation begins with something as simple as a meal, a conversation, a pair of socks, a hygiene bag, a Bible, or a prayer.
We believe meeting a physical need can open the door to building a relationship and sharing the greatest hope we know—Jesus Christ.
-
Depending on the needs of each community, we may provide:
Food and water
Hygiene supplies
Clothing
Blankets and other basic necessities
Bibles
Tarps
Prayer and encouragement
When a need goes beyond what our ministry can provide, we also seek to connect individuals with appropriate community resources.
We may be able to provide a meal, but we also want to provide hope.
-
Yes. Jesus Christ is at the center of everything we do.
Matthew 22:9–10 is not simply about going out and meeting physical needs. It reminds us of the invitation God has extended through Jesus.
We believe people need food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and other necessities—but we also believe people need hope.
Our desire is to show the love of Christ through our actions and share the Gospel through our words.
-
No.
Matthew 22:10 says the servants gathered both good and bad.
We believe the invitation of Jesus is extended to everyone.
We don't serve people because they have earned it or because they believe the same things we do.
We serve because they matter to God.
We freely offer practical help, compassion, prayer, and the opportunity to hear about Jesus.
-
Yes.
The word “invite” is central to Matthew 22:9.
We believe the greatest invitation we can offer is an invitation to know Jesus.
As relationships develop and opportunities arise, we share the Gospel and tell people about God's love, forgiveness, grace, and the new life found through Jesus Christ.
We want people to know that their current circumstances do not have to be the end of their story.
There is hope. There is forgiveness. There is a Savior.
-
Yes. Prayer is an important part of our ministry.
We pray for people who are hurting, struggling, sick, lonely, addicted, discouraged, or searching for hope.
Sometimes someone needs a meal.
Sometimes someone needs clothing.
Sometimes someone needs someone to listen.
And sometimes someone simply needs to know that there is a person willing to stand beside them and pray.
We believe God still changes lives through prayer.

Street Ministry volunteers receive training before going into the streets with our team.
You don't have to have all the answers.
You don't have to be a preacher.
You don't have to know exactly what to say.
You simply need a willing heart and a willingness to GO.
-

There is a place for everyone to serve.

Absolutely!
Supply drives are a wonderful way for churches, youth groups, businesses, schools, and organizations to participate in the mission of 22.9 Ministries.
One person may provide a few items, but when a community comes together, those gifts can become a tremendous blessing.
Together, we can help take the invitation to the streets.
-
We wish we could meet every need, but we can't.
Some situations require professional services, medical care, housing assistance, addiction treatment, mental-health services, or other specialized resources.
When possible, we help connect individuals with organizations and resources that are equipped to meet those needs.
We may not always be able to change someone's circumstances, but we can always choose to love, listen, pray, serve, and remind them that they matter.
-
See them.
Don't look past them.
If it is safe and appropriate, take time to listen. You may be able to offer food or water, help connect them with a local resource, or simply ask if you can pray with them.
Sometimes the first step toward hope is simply knowing that someone sees you.
If someone is in immediate danger or experiencing an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency or professional service.
-
Pray.
Pray for the people we encounter.
Pray for our teams.
Pray for the communities we serve.
Pray that hearts would be open.
Pray that lives would be transformed.
Pray that chains would be broken.
Pray that people would respond to the invitation of Jesus.
And most importantly, pray that lost souls would come into the family of God.
Our greatest desire isn't simply to distribute supplies.
Our greatest desire is to see people come to Jesus.
-
Because Jesus called us to GO.
Matthew 22:9–10 reminds us that the servants were sent out to find people and invite them to the feast.
That's our heart.
We GO because there are people who need to know they are loved.
We SERVE because people have real physical needs.
We LISTEN because everyone has a story.
We PRAY because we believe God still changes lives.
We INVITE because Jesus is the greatest hope anyone can receive.
And we do it together because:
We are not able to do this alone.
There are people waiting to be invited.
There are people waiting to hear that they matter.
There are people who need hope.
So we will GO.
GO to the highways.
GO to the streets.
GO to the hurting.
GO to the forgotten.
GO to the lost.GO—and invite them to the feast.
